KARACHI:
The Board of Secondary Education, Karachi, (BSEK) chairperson Fasihuddin Khan raided various exam centres in Karachi where around 65 students were caught cheating in their Matric exams. He ordered the officials to take action against the students by registering cases of using unfair means against them.
During a raid at a centre located in PECHS, a student who was cheating in the chemistry exam of class nine managed to escape from the centre.
Noman Ahsan, the examinations controller, said they will continue the surprise visits and will also take strict action against supervisors and other officials posted at the centres where cheating was rampant. "After registering a case of unfair means, the board forms a committee comprising three to four members to decide the penalty," he said.
On the other hand, BSEK secretary Hoor Mazhar, while speaking to the media, criticised the school managements for facilitating students and promoting copy culture in the city. "We will hold the administration of exam centres responsible where students are caught cheating," she said.
Separately, 221 students were caught red-handed by vigilance teams of the Larkana Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE) on Tuesday for using unfair means during the exams.
The 34 vigilance teams raided various examination centres in Larkana, Kamber-Shahdadkot, Shikarpur, Kandhkot-Kashmore, Jacobabad and two talukas of Dadu district including Khairpur Nathan Shah and Mehar where they caught 159 students cheating in the class nine chemistry exam. Moreover, the vigilance teams caught 59 impersonators sitting in the examination centres to solve the papers for actual students.
