COAS recognises sacrifices of soldiers, confers gallantry awards

Medals of the martyred officers and soldiers were received by their family members

Recognising the sacrifices and efforts of security forces in the on-going Operation Zarb-e-Azb, Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Raheel Sharif on Tuesday conferred military awards to Army personnel for acts of gallantry.

The awards were given in an investiture ceremony held at General Headquarters in Rawalpindi, according to a statement released by the Inter Services Public Relations.

A large number of military officials, soldiers and their relatives along with the relatives of those martyred during the on-going operation against militants.

Thirty officers and soldiers were awarded Tamgha-e-Bisalat, 33 officers were conferred Sitara-e-Imtiaz (Military) while one soldier was given United Nations (UN) Medal.

Medals of the martyred officers and soldiers were received by their family members.
