NA-246 by-polls: Qaim asks DG Rangers to ensure law and order

Chief minister was also briefed on progress of targeted operation against criminal elements in Karachi

KARACHI:
Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah has instructed Director General  Rangers Sindh Major General Bilal Akbar to ensure that polls are conducted peacefully at Karachi’s NA-246 constituency, Express News reported.

Qaim met the chief of the paramilitary force on Monday at the Chief Minister House in Karachi, where he was also briefed on the progress of continuing targeted operation against criminal elements in the city.

Parties including the Muttahida Qaumi Movement, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf and Jamaat-e-Islami have been running vigorous campaigns to claim the support of the masses in NA-246. Party workers on a number of occasions have come face to face while electioneering.

The NA-246 seat fell vacant after Nabil Gabol, who was elected on a MQM ticket in the 2013 general elections, resigned from his seat after developing differences with the party. By-polls are scheduled for April 23.
