ISLAMABAD: The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (Ogra) has decided to increase gas prices by Rs3.69 and Rs1.85 per MMBTU for Sui Southern and Sui Northern, respectively.

The new prices will become effective from January 1, 2011 after government approval.

According to officials, the increase will be adjusted in the gas development surcharge and will not affect the tariff paid by consumers.

Ogra has sent a copy of its decision for implementation and gazette notification, along with a summary to the ministry of petroleum and natural resources.

The sources further said that Sui Southern had applied for an increase of Rs30.07 per MMBTU while the Sui Northern had called for increasing the price by Rs21.37 per MMBTU. However, Ogra allowed Sui Southern an increase of Rs3.69 and Sui Northern Rs1.85.
