QUETTA:
The Frontier Corps (FC) Balochistan claimed to have killed three militants, including one involved in the Ziarat Residency and train attacks, during a search operation on Friday.

According to the FC spokesman, the terrorists – belonging to different proscribed organisations – were killed after a gun fight that took place in the Mach area of Bolan district.

“Mehmood, famous as Mama, had participated in the attack on the Ziarat Residency and was also active in attacking Punjab-bound trains and passengers travelling to Punjab,” the FC spokesman said.

He said these terrorists were also involved in threatening local traders for extortion and killing Hindu traders. “The FC also confiscated three sophisticated weapons with ammunition and hand grenades,” he added.

Meanwhile, the paramilitary force also arrested a member of the outlawed Balochistan Liberation Army along with hate material in Panjgur district.

On June 15, 2013, a group of terrorists had attacked the otherwise peaceful valley of Ziarat in the north of Balochistan and set ablaze the historic residency, where Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah had spent his last days.

The residency was restored in the following year, and Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on August 14, 2014 inaugurated the Quaid-e-Azam Residency, which is now restored to its original shape. The PM was accompanied by Army Chief General Raheel Shareef and other provincial ministers and secretaries.
