KARACHI: The City District Government, Karachi has decided on Monday to put fire brigades and ambulance services under the control of the Rangers and the Capital City Police during Muharram. The decision was made by city administrator Lala Fazlur Rehman so that in case of an untoward incident, law-enforcement agencies could use these civic services efficiently.

During a meeting of CDGK EDOs, DOs and town administrators on Monday, it was decided that the digital monitoring and surveillance system of Nishtar Park and Sharae Quaideen would be connected to CDGK’s central command and control system.

Rehman assured the town administrators that their financial problems would be resolved diligently. He urged the Saddar and Jamshed TMAs to be on their toes as these towns are the centre of the main procession routes of Muharram. The meeting also discussed the role of union councils (UC) and expressed the concern that some UC secretaries were not cooperating with the city administration.
