Break free: Kidnapped Afghan refugee returns home

Afghan refugee Noorullah who was kidnapped for ransom on February 16 from Chowk Yadgar escaped from his captors and reached home safely.
Police told The Express Tribune that Noorullah, a resident of Shamshatu Refugee camp, had been kidnapped on February 16 and spent 52 days with his abductors who were demanding $1,000,000 as ransom. However, he managed to escape when the kidnappers tried to shift him from Pakistan to Afghanistan.
“He managed to free himself at the Pak-Afghan border and reached home safely,” said an official of Kabuli police station. He added Noorullah provided vital information about the kidnappers and they were able to arrest three of the suspects, Ashiqullah, Hizbullah and Muhammad Yousaf. All of them were from Afghanistan. However, one of the suspects evaded capture. “Abdullah, a member of the group, managed to escape, but we are trying to arrest him,” claimed the official.
