Review: Curtail gas outages, recommends NA standing committee

Committee recommends the present schedule of outages be curtailed so that labour unemployment may be avoided.

ISLAMABAD:
The National Assembly’s standing committee on the textile industry has recommended that the present schedule of two days of gas outages in textile industries be curtailed so that labour unemployment may be avoided. A meeting of the committee was held here under the chairmanship of Sardar Haji Muhammad Akram Ansari.

The meeting was held to discuss the current situation regarding the availability of cotton and yarn in the country and to discuss proposals and incentives for the adversely affected textile industry.

The secretary for the textile industry stated that main cause for the acute shortage of yarn in the domestic market is the heavy flood that hit the country.
