School teacher in India allegedly beats student to death for stealing pencil

Head teacher launched an assault after stolen items were discovered in the 11-year-old boy's bag

Head teacher of a school in India was arrested for allegedly beating an 11-year-old student to death for stealing another pupil's pencil and eraser. 

Lalit Verman reportedly launched an assault on Shiva, after the stolen items were discovered in the boy's bag at Dwarika Prasad School in Railamau village.

As the principal went into a furious rage and beat the child severely, it was reported that the student complained of a severe stomach ache and was throwing up blood once he arrived home.

An ambulance was called out to take Shiva to Fatehpur Hospital however, his condition deteriorated fast and he was declared dead upon arrival.

Verman was charged with culpable homicide not amounting to murder and detained for questioning.

The child's body was taken for post-mortem to establish the cause of death, although police told reporters that he died due to internal bleeding.

Police superintendent OP Singh said Shiva's father had filed a report with officers in Biddupur relating to the 'unnatural' death of his son.
