LAHORE: Lahore High Court on Wednesday sought a reply from the Punjab government on a petition seeking legislation to protect the rights of domestic servants. A single bench of the LHC ordered the government to submit a reply in this regard on April 24. Sheraz Zaka said domestic servants were the most ignored segment of society. He said there were no rules or laws to protect their rights. He said labour laws did not extend to domestic help and they had no salary structure, defined duty hours or laws regarding payment of dues. He said servants needed protections.
