Meeting with us envoy: LNG import will save $750m, says Abbasi
The focus of upcoming discussions would be on clean energy sources – gas and renewables.
ISLAMABAD:
A delegation led by United States Ambassador Richard G Olson called on Federal Minister for Petroleum Shahid Khaqan Abbasi. The meeting concentrated on the upcoming US-Pakistan Energy Working Group deliberations to be held in Islamabad on April 29 and 30. The focus of upcoming discussions would be on clean energy sources – gas and renewables. Previous meeting of the Energy Working Group was held in November 2013 in Washington. The US ambassador appreciated the progress Pakistan had made in several areas including the first delivery of LNG shipment at a new terminal at the Port Qasim. The petroleum minister said the LNG import would result in savings of over $750 million by reducing reliance on imported liquid fuels for power generation.
