MULTAN:

The Multan Waste Management Company (MWMC) will soon introduce a biometric attendance system at its union council offices, said MWMC Mmanager Faheem Lodhi on Wednesday.

He said the company would initially install the biometric attendance system at four offices and would later introduce the system at all its offices in the district.

He said the decision had been taken to check presence of workers and to address citizen’s complaints.

He said that the system would be linked to the main MWMC office so that attendance could be monitored in real time.

He said citizens could register their complaints about cleanliness in their areas at the offices where the biometric attendance system had been introduced.

He further said the company had been collecting waste from Bahauddin Zakariya University (BZU) free of charge.

He said he had written a letter to the BZU administration to pay charges on waste collected per container.

He said an agreement with the BZU in this regard would be signed soon.

He said MWMC staff had been deployed at 61 of 129 union councils. Out of these, 45 were in urban areas and 16 in rural areas. He said the service would be extended to the entire district once recruitment for staff was complete.
