
In a statement issued, Ranjha said intervention in a foreign conflict was being debated in the National Assembly for the first time in the country’s history. “This reflects the democratic attitude of the ruling party,” he said.
He said the prime minister should be praised for calling a joint session of the parliament to debate issue instead of unilaterally deciding the matter.
Ranjha said none of the country’s previous rulers had consulted elected representatives of the people on such matters.
