Imran Shahzad continued his winning run in the IBSF World Amateur Snooker Championship after he upstaged Faaris Khan of South Africa 4-1 in Damascus, Syria.

Pakistan’s top cueist Imran won the first frame 67-40 and was in even better touch in the second as he won 95-8. Khan, however, hit back to take the next frame 60-46 but it was the Pakistani who prevailed as he clinched the next two frames 109-60, 89-18 to register his second victory in two matches.

Imran had earlier beaten Australia’s Vinnie Calabrese 4-2 in his first outing of the championship.

Sohail suffers massive defeat

Roy Stolk beat Sohail Shahzad 4-0 in a one-sided encounter as the Dutch won his second game in Group H. Stolk did not give Sohail even an outside chance of clinching any frame as he won 82-32, 81-46, 109-30, 65-29.

Sohail also started off his campaign on a winning note against home cueist Ibrahim Alkhder Alahmd 4-0.

Sajjad wins as well

Mohammad Sajjad defeated Norwegian Alain Vandersteen 4-2 to register his second win.

Runner-up in the Asian Championship held in Thailand earlier this year, Sajjad started off in emphatic fashion, winning the first frame 129-4. Vandersteen hit back in the next and won it 76-29 before the Pakistani won 86-9 to take the lead again.

The see-saw battle continued with Vandersteen claiming the next frame 73-42. But it was the man from Sargodha who kept his nerve as he won the next two frames 83-20, 81-33 to clinch the victory.
