Memorial: CM wants early completion of Bab-e-Pakistan project
Says sports facilities, space for exhibition of work on Pakistan Movement should be part of the project.

Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif on Monday stressed the need for early completion of the Bab-e-Pakistan project. He hoped that the establishment of a Bab-e-Pakistan Foundation and appointment of members to its board would help in this regard.
He was chairing a meeting to review progress on the project conceived as a memorial for the refugee camp set up in the Walton Cantonment in 1947 to accommodate people migrating into Pakistan immediately after the partition of British India.
Federal Minister for Railways Khawaja Saad Rafique, the National Assembly member from the constituency where the project is located, also attended the meeting. Information Secretary Momin Agha briefed the meeting on the project.
The chief minister suggested that construction of playgrounds and provision of other sports facilities should also be included in the plan for the project. He said the site should have space for exhibition of artwork and photographs about the Pakistan Movement.
The chief minister said the project would serve as a one-stop guide for people to learn about the founding fathers of the country. He said with such projects, the new generations could be taught about the purpose for the creation of the country.
Members Provincial Assembly Mian Naseer and Yasin Sohail and the chief secretary were also present.
In another meeting on Monday, Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif directed the departments concerned to evolve an action plan on cracking down on people involved in producing and selling adulterated foodstuff. He said the existing laws on prohibition of production and sale of adulterated food should be reviewed and amendments recommended to the Provincial Assembly to improve action against such elements.
Provincial Ministers Bilal Yasin and Chaudhry Muhammad Shafiq, Advisor to the Chief Minister on Health Khwaja Salman Rafiq, and Member Provincial Assembly Dr Nadia Aziz attended the meeting which was chaired by the chief minister through a video link.
