KARACHI:
Removed from Pakistan’s ODI and Test squads for the tour of Bangladesh on alleged behavioural grounds, opener Ahmed Shehzad is being courted by English counties to represent them in this year’s County Championship.

According to the man himself, the likes of Derbyshire and Warwickshire are interested in having him on board. “I’ve played very little in England, so I’m looking to play County Championship because it will be a new challenge for me,” Shehzad told The Express Tribune. “I’m eager to improve as a player with every passing day and this would only make me better. I’ll play as much as I can before the next series against Sri Lanka.”

The opener added that he is eager to prove himself in the County Championship since if he does well, then county teams would want to bring in other Pakistani batsmen as well, which will benefit the players and the country.
