ISLAMABAD:
The Capital Development Authority on Sunday announced to plant 0.5 million saplings of a number of kinds of plants and trees during the ongoing spring plantation campaign 2015.

Different educational institutes, government and non-governmental organisations, civil society and traders associations have started organising events in connection with the campaign in collaboration with the CDA.

A ceremony to this effect was held at sector G-10 on Sunday which was attended by the CDA officials and representatives of Islamabad Leo Club, JAD Foundation and residents of the sector. On this occasion the CDA member environment Syed Mustafain Kazmi, along with citizens, planted saplings at different areas of the sector.

While addressing the participants, Kazmi said during the ongoing spring tree plantation drive different species of flower and fruit plants would also be planted.

He said the CDA was tasked to plant around 300,000 plants but the CDA in collaboration with different organizations has increased the target to 500,000 saplings which would not only increase the green cover but would further beautify the city.

He said post-tree plantation monitoring was equally important to increase the survival rate of the planted saplings so that these plants could grow properly.
