LAHORE:

Dozens of people gathered at Liberty Roundabout on Sunday and held a candle light vigil to remember Zain Rauf, a teenager shot and killed allegedly by Mustafa Kanju, son of former state minister Siddique Kanju.

The protesters said the killing showed that the country was still marred with what they said was feudal culture. They held placards reading messages seeking justice for the deceased boy. Ali Wahab, a Model Town resident, said he was driving past the roundabout when he saw the vigil.

He said he immediately decided to join them because he felt that they were protesting for a just cause. “We cannot let people drive around on the roads with such weapons,” he said. Wahab added that such demonstrations should be continued to ensure that the killers of Rauf were brought to justice.
