Brand row: Court allows Bahria Town to keep its name
Overturns ruling which prevented the firm to using the ‘Bahria’ moniker.
KARACHI:
A sessions court in Rawalpindi has allowed Bahria Town management to use the brand name ‘Bahria’ while hearing an appeal the other day.
It suspended an earlier order of a civil court which directed the construction conglomerate to refrain from using ‘Bahria’ in its name, a statement issued by Bahria Town said. Bahria Foundation had filed the petition in Rawalpindi Civil Court to prevent Bahria Town from using this title.
Additional Sessions Judge Muhammad Ashraf heard the arguments by Bahria Town’s lawyer Ilyas Sheikh. The counsel for Bahria Town said that the civil judge did not even listen to his arguments and therefore, civil court’s orders should be suspended and Bahria Town’s case should be heard.
Suspending the order by civil court, session court allowed Bahria Town to use the brand ‘Bahria’. The judge also issued notices to both sides seeking a response on April 19.
