Blood disease centre inaugurated in City

The city’s first state-of-art blood disease centre was inaugurated on Friday at the National Hospital and Medical Centre (NH&MC). The centre, a joint venture of the NH&MC, Chughtai Lab and the National Institute of Blood Disease, has been conceived to further clinical hematology and bone marrow transplant services with a strong research base.

The centre offers several services including a thalassemia unit, a hemophilia unit, out patient departments for blood disorders, an aphaeresis facility, a blood bank facility and a diagnostic laboratory.  NH&MC CEO Shahida Khawaja said the launch of the centre constituted a revolutionary step in the health sector. Khawaja said the NH&MC was committed to providing quality healthcare to people by using state-of-the-art technology.
