Youhanabad lynching: LHC orders police to produce the detained in court

Justice Abdul Sami Khan of Lahore High Court (LHC) on Thursday directed police to produce on April 6, 14 people detained for their alleged involvement in the Youhanabad lynching.
On Thursday, Investigation SSP Ayaz Saleem, the head of a joint team investigating the lynching, informed the court that 14 people had been sent to judicial lockup for an identification parade. One person who was taken into custody has been released, he said.
Referring to Aslam Pervaiz Sahotra and Aftab Gill, the SSP said that they were arrested and then sent to jail on judicial remand.
“Apart from these, police have not arrested anyone,” he said.
MA Joseph and others had filed the petitions, alleging police had taken their family members in custody without evidence. “Police are not allowing us to meet them. They are not being presented in court,” they said.
The petitioners claimed that the arrested men had no link with the lynching. Their counsels requested the LHC to direct authorities to find the detained men and set them free.
