LAHORE:

Lahore High Court on Thursday dismissed as withdrawn a plea seeking ban on media coverage of Mutahidda Qaumi Movement chief Altaf Hussain’s political addresses.

Justice Ijazul Ahsan directed the petitioner, Advocate Kashif Sulemani, to approach the Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority for the purpose. Over this, the petition was withdrawn. The petitioner had submitted that several serious allegations were raised against Hussain in a recently shown video footage of Saulat Mirza, a former MQM worker. He had said in view of these allegations it was not appropriate for the PEMRA to allow media coverage of Hussain’s addresses.
