Tragic: Young ‘farmer’ drowns in manhole

FAISALABAD:
A youth drowned and two others were hospitalised after they fell in an uncovered manhole near Saddar police station on Thursday. Ali Haidar, a resident of Chak 215-RB, told The Express Tribune that 25-year-old Sarfraz Ahmad and Saeed were plugging a sewer leak when they fell in the manhole. “Ahmed and Saeed called for help and Ghulam Sarwar, 22, rushed to help them out,” he said.“When Sarwar was pulling them out, he slipped and fell in and drowned,” Haidar said.

He said some people called Rescue 1122 who fished out Sarwar’s body. Sarfraz and Saeed were taken to a hospital in critical condition.

A Saddar police team took Sarwar’s body in custody.
