High targets: Education campaign launched in Bahawalpur

“Some 155,000 students in Bahawalpur Division will be enrolled this year,” said DCO Imran Sikandar Baloch on Thursday.


He was addressing the launch ceremony of Parho Punjab Barho Punjab campaign in Bahawalpur at Satellite Town Government Girls High School.

He said students would be admitted at public and private schools and seminaries at primary level. He said recruitment for the campaign would be completed in two phases.

Minister for Cooperatives Malik Muhammad Iqbal Channar was also present. He signed admission forms of four students and gave them school bags.

Channar said children of south Punjab were no less talented or capable than those elsewhere. He said they had been denied quality education under previous governments.

“The government is taking its commitments for improving access to education very seriously,” he said.

He said 100,000 educators had been appointed for the campaign.
