Police officers guarding polio team attacked in DI Khan

Two police officers injured in attack but are out of danger; search operation launched in area

DI KHAN: Two police officers accompanying a polio team in the Kolachi area in DI Khan were attacked and shot by unknown assailants on Thursday, Express News reported.

Police officer Jumma Khan was mildly injured, while Haq Nawaz was shot in the leg. Both of them, however, are out of danger.

Following the attack, police started a search operation in the area.

Earlier in March, three people, including two lady health workers, were killed when unidentified assailants opened fire at a polio team near an Afghan refugee camp on the outskirts of Mansehra city.

The deceased also included a police constable, DPO Ejaz Khan had told The Express Tribune.
