Agriculture: ‘UAF promoting research’

University of Agriculture Vice Chancellor Iqrar Ahmad Khan said on Tuesday agriculture was the backbone of the economy.
“It is directly linked to food security and poverty alleviation,” he told a delegation from the Civil Services Academy’s 42nd Common Training Course.
Khan said the UAF was doing its best to produce a trained manpower and promote research. The university, he said, organised two festivals a year for the farming community.
The delegation also called on DCO Noorul Amin Mengal. The DCO told members of the delegation that several development projects, including the Canal Expressway and the Jhal Khanuana underpass, were near completion in the city. He said the country’s largest children’s hospital was being built on Jhang Road.
