JAMRUD: Khasadar personnel shot dead a smuggler at a check post in Takhta Baig, Jamrud as he was trying to evade routine checking on Saturday. Jamrud’s Assistant Political Agent (APA) Fahad Wazir said khasadar personnel at the check post signalled a vehicle to stop, but the driver attempted to flee. Wazir added khasadars then opened fire at the vehicle, injuring the driver. The vehicle toppled as a result and the driver died by the time he was pulled out. The deceased person, said Wazir, was identified as Pizwan, a resident of Zakha Khel in Landikotal. He was reportedly attempting to smuggle heroin from Khyber Agency. 26 kilogrammes of the drug was found inside the vehicle, added the APA. The political administration registered a case and started further investigation.
