Judicial commission: Fazl sees bid to bring PTI back to parliament
JUI-F chief says he has 'no enmity with anyone, but polls were rigged in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa as well'
ISLAMABAD:
Days after the government and the protesting Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) agreed over the constitution of a judicial commission to probe the alleged rigging in the 2013 general elections, Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) chief Fazlur Rehman on Thursday said the commission was only an effort to bring the PTI back to Parliament.
Speaking to the media after his return from a week-long tour of China, JUI-F chief said the PTI was looking for a reason to return to the assemblies and the government has provided it a perfect opportunity. “However, questions remain over whether the resignations of PTI members were accepted in the first place or not,” he added.
To a question on PTI, he said “I have no enmity with anyone, but polls were rigged in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa as well.”
Briefing about his visit to China, Fazl said he had a one-point agenda of discussing the Pak-China Economic Corridor route with the high-ups in Beijing. He held negotiations with vice president of China’s national legislature National Peoples Congress, among others.
The JUI-F chief said there were three routes for the economic corridor, a) Karachi to Lahore, b) Gwadar to Rattodero and Islamabad, and c) from Burhan to D I Khan, Zhob and Quetta to Gawadar. “There was an agreement over the third route which crosses from Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa in the north,” Fazl said, adding that an impression was created the construction is not the first priority of Chinese counterparts.

“We have asked the Chinese authorities that a 100km section of route which is being deferred should be built on a priority basis,” he said.
