LAHORE: Justice Syed Mansoor Ali Shah of Lahore High Court directed the attorney general of Pakistan on Thursday to assist the court in light of Supreme Court’s orders on petitions seeking fresh delimitations and then party-based polls of the cantonment board. The judge said from April 3 onwards, proceedings would be held daily. On Thursday, the court was told that both issues were pending before the Supreme Court. Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf Lahore Cantonment president Awais Younas said the Election Commission of Pakistan had announced local government polls in 42 cantonments in the country on orders of the Supreme Court. He said the ECP had announced non-party elections for April 25.  He said holding non-party based election violated Article 17 of the Constitution and an order passed by the Lahore High Court in 2013.  On another other petition, he said that the cantonment board had not held fresh delimitations for the upcoming local government polls. He said this was in violation of the Constitution.
