LAHORE:

Lahore High Court (LHC) on Tuesday sought the assistance of the attorney general of Pakistan and the Punjab advocate general on a petition challenging non-party local government elections scheduled to be held in cantonment areas.

PTI Lahore Cantonment president Awais Younas had submitted that the local elections in 42 cantonments were scheduled for April 25  on non-party basis.

He had said that preventing candidates from affiliating with a political party was a violation of Article 17 of the Constitution and an LHC order. He had requested the court to hold the elections on party basis.
