Armed men attack oil tankers in Mastung, abduct four drivers

QUETTA: A group of armed men opened fire at oil tankers and kidnapped four drivers in Kirdgap area of Balochistan's Mastung district on Sunday.

“The assailants were on motorbike and opened fire at eight oil tankers going from Karachi to the site of Sendak Copper and Gold project in Chagai district,” a senior Balochistan Levies official told The Express Tribune. “The incident took place at 10:30am.”

“At least eight abandoned oil tankers were found when Levies officials reached the scene,” a senior official from Balochistan Levies Kirdgap station said. Four oil tankers were damaged and thousands of litres of oil spilled over the highway.

“The motive behind the attack is unknown,” the Levies official said. The Levies forces led by Deputy Commissioner Mastung have launched an investigation to trace the perpetrators. No group has claimed responsibility for the attack as yet.
