Scrutiny completed for NA-246 nominations

Twenty-five of the total 27 nomination papers submitted for the by-election on the NA-246 seat were accepted by the Sindh Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) after scrutiny.


The Sindh ECP raised objections over the forms submitted by independent candidate Ashraf Ali Qureshi and Pakistan Muslim League - Nawaz (PML-N) candidate Muhammad Rehan and rejected their applications on the last day of the scrutiny process. Nomination papers of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement’s Abdus Sattar Ansari, Qamar Naveed, Aslam Afridi and Seema Zari were accepted.

Similarly, the nomination papers Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s Imran Ismail, Firdous Shamim Naqvi, Muhammad Asif Memon, Nazia Rabbani, Usman Kohistani, Raja Azhar, Asif Memon and Sohail Ahmed were accepted. Nomination papers of PML-N’s Muhammad Ayub Khan and Pasban-e-Pakistan’s Shakil Shaikh and Usman Moazzam were also accepted. From the Pakistan Peoples Party, Zafar Siddiqui Advocate, Hassan Pervez, Shaheena Shamim and Shehzad Majid, were cleared.

The forms of Jamaat-e-Islami Karachi ameer Hafiz Naeemur Rehman, Munam Zafar Khan and Rashid Nasim were accepted. Nomination papers submitted by three independent candidates, Pervez Ali, Atiq Qureshi and Mehfooz Yar Khan were also accepted.

Appeals will be heard on March 24 and the final list of candidates will be displayed on April 2. Polling will be held on April 23.
