KARACHI:
Citizens interested in the recently introduced residential project Fazaia Housing Scheme Karachi have complained that registration forms are being sold in the black market at very high prices.

Some estate agents who have managed to acquire these forms are reportedly charging as much as Rs30,000 for a form. The official fee of the form is only Rs1,000.

“I stood in the long queue for the first two days but failed to get even one form,” a member of the public said, adding that the security personnel deployed outside the PAF Museum in Karachi, where the registration forms were being distributed, misbehaved even with senior citizens. “People were baton charged. Women too were not treated well.”

A member of the public also claimed that the deadline for form submission was changed from March 31 to March 26 in an effort to extract larger sums of money from the public. “This will only disturb common citizens who really want to buy property in this project. It also shows that it is a planned effort to increase value of the properties in this scheme.”

Citizens also indicate that despite the interest shown in the residential project, the administration had only assigned five bank branches in all of Karachi to get these forms. “No one is being provided forms from these banks,” a citizen who wished not be named said.

“Easy availability of registration forms will definitely discourage black marketing,” the complainer urged.
