Better Late Than Never: Aansoo Kohli gets paid at last
Dhamrah assured the young activist that the government’s promises were not merely announcements
KARACHI:
The Sindh government handed over two cheques to Aansoo Kohli on Thursday, including one for her own salary. The cheques were handed over by Pakistan Peoples Party Senator Aajiz Dhamrah in Umerkot. Kohli reminded Dhamrah about the promises made by the Sindh government, including the refurbishment of the school building. “I am not here to get cheques only,” she told the senator. “I am worried for my students who sit under the open sky.” For his part, Dhamrah assured the young activist that the government’s promises were not merely announcements. He added that all the promises will be fulfilled, including the establishment of a women vocational centre in her village. The cheque of Rs5,000 was given by the National Commission for Human Development as her salary and Rs262,000 by the Sindh Education Foundation for her school.
