Consistent supply: Five-year distribution plan for QESCO

The plan has been sent to National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (Nepra) for further regulatory approval.

ISLAMABAD: A five-year Integrated Generation Transmission Distribution Plan (IGTDP) has been developed for Quetta Electricity Supply Company (Qesco) to provide consistent and reliable power supply to consumers in the province. The plan has been prepared as per the instructions of the Ministry of Water and Power, in collaboration with National Transmission and Despatch Company (NTDC) Lahore for a period from 2014 to 2019. The plan has been sent to National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (Nepra) for further regulatory approval. Ministry’s sources said the total demand of electricity in Balochistan at present is 1,730MW and almost all areas of the province except district Lasbela have been supplied electricity. Sources added that two 220KV mega projects have been commissioned and a proposal for two new 132KV transmission lines has been given whose feasibility study has also been completed.
