PESHAWAR:
Pakistan Muslim League – Nawaz (PML-N) leader Haji Sardar Mohmand was shot dead on Wednesday in Peshawar's Yakutat area, Express News reported.
The banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) claimed responsibility for the killing of the PML-N leader.
"Our special unit STF successfully targeted the PML-N senior leader in Peshawar's Yakatut area,” said a TTP spokesperson Mohammad Khorasani.
Mohmand - who was critically injured - was immediately shifted to Lady Reading Hospital where he succumbed to the injuries.
Soon after the incident, police arrived at the site and carried out a search operation in the area.
