KARACHI:
Reports of a hand grenade being hurled outside a school in Orangi Town on Tuesday morning proved false, but not before becoming a source of media frenzy creating fear and panic among the area residents.
“An unidentified caller informed the police emergency line about a ‘grenade-like object’ lying on the road in Orangi Town’s Sector 11-L,” SP Ali Asif told The Express Tribune.
“A police team rushed to the site but found a solid metal ball painted golden.”
He clarified that there was no school near the site, adding that the media was responsible for stirring panic.
“Media organisations should exercise restraint and verify incidents before reporting,” he said.
