Search operations: Five 'gang members' gunned down

In a police search operation in Baldia Town, 2 members of Lyari's Uzair Baloch group were killed in exchange of fire

The police claimed to have killed five alleged gang members during search encounters in Lyari and Baldia Town late on Monday Night.


According to City SSP Fida Hussain, suspects belonging to the Shiraz Comrade group opened fire on a police contingent that had cordoned off the Sarbazi Muhalla area for a search operation. He added that the police retaliated, leaving three suspects dead while two policemen also sustained bullet injuries. The suspects, identified as Irfan alias Laasi, Laal alias Laalu and Fazal alias Cheena, were said to be involved in targeted killing, extortion and kidnapping for ransom.

In a separate search operation in Baldia Town, two members of Lyari's Uzair Baloch group were killed in an exchange of fire with the police. Mochko SHO Chaudhry Saleem said that the suspects, namely Ahmed alias Ammu and Abdul Jabbar, had opened fire on the police in an attempt to flee the cordon.
