Pending cases: ‘Disposal mechanism to be devised after counting’

District and Sessions Judge Tariq Iftikhar Ahmed said on Sunday that a mechanism for quick disposal of cases pending since 1990 to 2014 would be devised as soon as their  listing was complete.

Judge Ahmed had recently ordered to forgo the Sunday holiday for judicial officers and other court staff to ensure that the exact number of cases could be provided to the Lahore High Court by March 17. Justice Manzoor A Malik of the LHC also visited the district and sessions court on Sunday to monitor progress on the job.
