Verdict: Man sentenced to life in prison

A district and sessions court on Saturday sentenced a man to life imprisonment for murdering his cousin. Saifullah was found guilty of stabbing and killing Rafiq Taj, the son of his maternal uncle, over a petty issue in January 2012. The deceased’s brother lodged a complaint against him for premeditated murder. On Saturday, the judge sentenced him to life imprisonment and ordered him to pay a fine of Rs0.1 million, half of which would be given to the victim’s family as compensation. The judge added that if the convict failed to pay the fine, he would be jailed for an additional six months.
