Power transmission : Upgradation to reduce line losses
The minister categorically stated that the areas not paying bills will be de-electrified
ISLAMABAD:
Minister for Water and Power Khawaja Muhammad Asif said that the power transmission system is being upgraded in order to reduce line and transmission losses. Addressing a function at IESCO headquarters in Islamabad on Friday, he said line losses are a big issue and the power distribution companies should remain vigilant. The minister categorically stated that the areas not paying bills will be de-electrified. He said six to eight hours of load-shedding is currently standard, adding that areas enduring more than this are suffering due to power pilferage. Asif added that the industrial sector has been exempted from load-shedding. Regretting the killing of two IESCO officials at Sohan, the minister said the officials rendered their lives in the line of duty and those involved in the incident will be apprehended.
