Crime and punishment: Wanted dacoit shot dead in Swabi

Swabi police gunned down a dacoit who allegedly tried to loot a truck on Maira Jalbai Road on Thursday night.
According to press release issued from the Swabi DPO’s office on Friday, unidentified robbers signalled a truck to stop. However, the driver refused to stop. As a result, armed robbers opened fire at the vehicle, leaving the driver critically injured.
Officials of Chota Lahor police rushed to the spot immediately after receiving information about the incident.
“The alleged robbers opened fire at the police,” stated the press release. “Police retaliated and shot dead Gulzada, the ringleader.” The other robbers managed to flee, it added.
According to police officials, Gulzada, a resident of Tordher, was wanted by Chota Lahor and Punjab police for multiple offences.
The heirs of the deceased robber initially refused to take his body for burial. However, DSP Izhar Shah ultimately persuaded them to do so.
