Rising crime rate: Rangers should be deployed in Lahore, says PAT
An operation should be started in Lahore. There are around 50,000 dangerous criminals operating in Lahore.
LAHORE:
Lahore should be handed over to Pakistan Rangers, Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) general secretary Khurram Nawaz Gandapur said on Wednesday.
He was talking to party workers from Islamabad, Kasur and Faisalabad.
“An operation should be started in Lahore. There are around 50,000 dangerous criminals operating in Lahore under the umbrella of police. The government uses these criminals to eliminate political opponents,” he said.
He said that law and order situation in the city had worsened due to government inaction.
“Since 2008, these criminals have been given a free hand in Lahore. That is why the people who opened fire on PAT workers in Model Town have not been arrested. The law and order situation in the city cannot improve until those who sponsor these criminals are arrested,” he said.
“Ministers and MPAs are themselves involved in attacking police stations, land grabbing and manhandling government employees. They do not fear prosecution. The crime rate will not decrease as long as Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz holds power in the province,” he said.
