KARACHI:
In the aftermath of a raid by the Rangers on the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) headquarters on Wednesday morning, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Karachi chapter president Ali Zaidi questioned the involvement of MQM workers in criminal activity in the city.

“During his tenure as provincial interior minister, Zulfiqar Mirza had openly accused MQM workers of involvement in the murder of journalist Wali Khan Babar,” said Zaidi, adding that the Rangers had arrested Babar’s alleged killer, Faisal Mahmood alias Faisal Mota, from Nine Zero during the raid. “Why was the MQM protecting such criminals and how did weapons stolen from NATO containers reach the MQM headquarters?”

Talking to The Express Tribune, Zaidi also raised questions about the statement made by MQM chief Altaf Hussain following the raid. “Hussain claims that the Rangers brought the weapons with them. Did they bring Faisal Mota with them too?”

He demanded that all criminals caught in Karachi should be tried in military courts irrespective of their political affiliations. He further condemned the killing of MQM worker Waqas Ali Shah during the raid on Nine Zero.
