LAHORE: A Lahore High Court (LHC) division bench on Tuesday upheld the conviction and sentence of a man accused of attacking former LHC chief justice Khwaja Muhammad Sharif and his wife. The court dismissed his petition challenging a 100-year jail term awarded to him. On January 20, 2004, Muhammad Yousaf had attacked Sharif with a cleaver at his house in the Defence Housing Authority (DHA). Yousaf said he had been wrongfully implicated in the case. He said he had been nominated in the FIR only because he had worked at Sharif’s residence. A deputy prosecutor general told the court Yousaf had attacked and injured the former judge with the intention of robbery. He said Sharif had nominated Yousaf in the FIR.
