LAHORE:

Lahore High Court, on Tuesday, issued a notice to the government and election commission on a plea seeking removal of the president and prime minister of Pakistan for allegedly hindering Senate elections for FATA seats.

Justice Syed Mansoor Ali Shah issued the order. The petitioner said seats allocated to FATA would remain vacant in violation of the Constitution. He said this had happened due to the president who at the 11th hour, on the advice of the PM, changed the voting method for the FATA.

The judge asked a law officer in the court under which law the Senate election from the FATA could be stopped. The court asked the election commission and the federal government to reply by March 11.
