MULTAN: A Bahauddin Zakariya University student was run over by a bus in Multan earlier Tuesday morning and passed away on the spot, Express News reported.

The bus driver in connection with the incident has been taken into custody by Multan police and investigation is underway.

Initial reports stated that Ayesha, a computer science student, arrived at the university on a bus and as she got off the bus, a bus driver driving in the opposite direction run her over reportedly and sped off.

Ayesha, who was also a professor's daughter, died on the spot. The university administration have closed all the gates to the university, leaving many students standing outside the university premises.

The university administration have claimed that it was the student's fault for coming in the way of the bus whereas, students and witnesses have claimed it to be the fault of the driver. The driver has reportedly fled the area.

Students stood outside the university and chanted slogans against the university administration. The university is trying to bring the situation under control.
