On the occasion of International Women’s Day, Actor Hamza Ali Abbasi criticised Pakistan's media for portraying women as ‘sex symbols’ in the name of women empowerment.

On his Facebook page, Abbasi posted that he was ashamed to admit that the Pakistani media and fashion industry is presenting women as sex symbols and confusing it with women empowerment.

Lamenting the lack of respect for women in the society, the actor said women should be respected "no matter what" to bring the best out of them.

“In every field of life including media, women must come out as symbols of respect, honour, dignity and courage,” he added.
