PESHAWAR:
Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf MPA Shaukat Yousafzai on Saturday said a clean and healthy Peshawar is the top priority of the provincial government and every step is being taken to achieve the target.
He was addressing a public gathering after inaugurating a cleanliness campaign in Shaheedabad on Saturday. The zone-wise drive is organised by Water and Sanitation Services Peshawar (WSSP). Yousafzai said the provincial capital was ignored in the past but the incumbent government will reform the city’s administration in such a way that it will be an example for others to follow. He lauded the efforts of WSSP for initiating the mega campaign.
The MPA, who is also K-P Public Accounts Committee chairman, said the WSSP has set the bar high through its recent performance. “People now expect even more for which the government is facilitating the sanitation service in every possible way,” he said, adding social awareness is the key to maintaining a healthy environment and the WSSP should also work towards that. Yousafzai said all the dumps in the area will be cleaned and solid waste will be disposed of in Maryamzai where land has already been acquired for
the purpose.
Also speaking on the occasion, WSSP CEO Engineer Muhammad Naeem Khan said the response from the public has been overwhelming. “I request the people for their continual support in order to clean every nook and corner of our beloved city,” he said.
