MANSEHRA:
At least three convicts were sentenced to prison for gang raping a college student in Mansehra district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (K-P).

On May 13, 2014, a young girl was duped by her friend, Anum, into going with her in a car where two men, including a seminary teacher, had sexually assaulted her and then left her stranded in the middle of a road near Ghazikot Township.

The seminary teacher, Nasir, was sentenced to 14 years in prison by the court, while one of his two accomplices, Hussain Mushtaq, was sentenced to 10 years in prison, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Mansehra Zulfiqar Jadoon told BBC Urdu.

The victim’s friend, who was accused of helping the convicts in the rape, was granted bail by the court during the hearing. The husband of the young girl decided to file an appeal against the decision in this regard.

The DSP Mansehra said a case was registered in the anti-terrorism court soon after the young girl was sexually assaulted in 2014.

The police had later arrested the two alleged rapists along with the driver and the victim’s friend.

Following protests against the incident, police had added section seven of the Anti-Terrorist Act.

According to police, the men were also involved in several other cases of molestation and abuse of college girls. They would make videos of the abuse to blackmail the girls later.
